Here in Southern California, Las Vegas is a huge weekend destination — not only for tourists visiting the area, but for locals as well. On any given Friday afternoon, the exodus of cars traveling the I-10, I-15 freeways to Las Vegas is almost overwhelming (which is why I recommend waiting until about 7 p.m. to head out of town, but I digress).
Hands down, my favorite app guide to Las Vegas is Sara Benson's "Viva Las Vegas, Baby!" which is available in iTunes (Universal), Google Play and Kindle format. Benson knows Sin City's best-kept secrets and hottest deals, offering you great bang for your buck. One of the best things about the app is her Q&A comments section, which allows you to ask questions about your trip and get expert advice — usually within 24 hours. You can also make your own comments in each entry, suggesting great menu items, or alerting fellow travelers to your favorite/least favorite parts of an attraction/hotel/restaurant.
Benson takes her app very seriously — regularly updating it with restaurant menus, casino floor maps, and important travel tips. And now, with in-app updates, everything will automagically appear each time you launch the app.
I'm definitely a fan. Don't visit Las Vegas without this app in your pocket. It'll be the best $2.99 you've spent. Good luck at the tables!
