Celebrate a winter wonderland under one of the most beautiful backdrops in California at Yosemite's Curry Village Ice Rink.
Dating back to 1928, the historic Curry Village Ice Rink is one of Yosemite's greatest winter treats. The rink opens around Thanksgiving weekend,
offering a beautiful ice skating experience with stunning views of Half Dome and Glacier Point.
The rink, originally developed by the Yosemite
Winter Club on an unused parking lot, offers a variety of modern amenities, ranging from skate rentals and shoe cubbies to a warming hut for non-skaters.
After
taking a spin on the ice during one of their 2 1/2-hour sessions, warm up by the
fire pit with a cup of hot cocoa, topped with plenty of whipped cream. Several light snacks are offered as well, including delicious s'mores.
Skating sessions for 2011-2012 season run $9.50 adults and $8.50 children. Skate rentals are $4, and helmets free.
The Yosemite ice skating season in Curry Village runs between November-March each year. Skating sessions are offered on weekdays from 3:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Weekend skating sessions are 8:30 to 11 a.m. mornings; noon to 2:30 p.m. for afternoon
sessions, and 3:30 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. evenings.
