La Toque

Internationally recognized for its exquisite truffle menu, chef Ken Frank’s award-winning La Toque is one of Downtown Napa's finest restaurants.

In 2009, the restaurant, which is located inside the Westin Verasa Napa Valley, received a coveted Michelin Star, one of the highest honors in the food industry. La Toque was also awarded a Michelin Star in 2007, when it was formerly La Toque Rutherford.

Open for dinner seven nights a week, La Toque Westin Verasa is known for Frank's French-inspired cuisine and award-winning wine cellar led by Sommelier Yoon Ha and wine director Scott Tracy.

Start with the Warm Maine Lobster and Roasted Sweet Potato Salad, paired with a 2009 Pelerin "Les Tournesols" Paraiso Vineyard from Santa Lucia Highlands, followed by a lovely Liberty Farm Duck Breast with Pink Peppercorns, Pear Poached in Red Wine and Kennebec Potato Chips. It's perfectly paired with a 2006 Keplinger "Red Slope" from Knights Valley.

The La Toque menu also includes a wonderful Boneless Lamb Loin with Cumin Scented Carrot Puree and Chick Pea Fries, paired with a 2004 Lagier Meredith Pyrah from Mount Veeder.

But what makes La Toque truly unique is its extravagant menu of truffles, among the most prized and expensive delicacies in the world. The truffle menu depends on season and availability, ranging from the first white truffles (tuber magnatum pico) in October to the black truffles (tuber melanosporum) which arrive in December. Fall Burgundy truffles, procured from Monti Sibillini, Italy, are another surprise treat.

Frank's truffle creations have, in the past, included such delights as Truffled Long Meadow Ranch Egg with Toasted Brioche; or a Salmon Bound in Crisp Truffle-Filled Potato Filled on a Bed of Leek Fondue with Truffle Sauce; and a Black Truffle Ice Cream.
