I loaded this app on my iPhone and iPad and put it to the test during a recent outing in the San Gabriel mountains. There are more than 2,600 entries in the app, covering everything from wildflowers and mammals to birds, fish and spiders.
What's best? You can listen to bird songs and calls to compare with what you're seeing, create your own personal nature account, and search by by shape, name and subject. No internet connection is necessary — a good thing when you're out in the middle of nowhere!
