In this episode of "California Travel Tips," Veronica Hill explores the La Brea Tar Pits and George C. Page Museum in mid-town Los Angeles.
This La Brea Tar Pits video highlights everything you'll see on a trip to the tar pits, including the bubbling methane asphalt lake pit, Project 23 (home to Zed, the Columbian Mammoth) and Pit 91, the longest-running urban paleontology excavation in the world.
During a visit inside the Page Museum, you'll discover artifacts procured from the tarry pits, including saber tooth tigers, the dire wolf, American mastadon and antique bison. In fact, the Page Museum at Rancho La Brea is home to the more than 100 tons of fossil bones — some dating back nearly 40,000 years.
