Location: From Newport Beach Pier, take East Balboa Blvd. all the way to the end of Balboa Peninsula where it will merge with Channel Rd. Park anywhere, paying attention to the street parking signs, and head out to Jetty View Park.
The Wedge Newport Beach is not for beginners. Waves here can reach monster sizes of around 7 to 20 feet, especially when a storm is brewing.
For spectators, the Newport Beach Wedge is a photographer's dream. Get here early to catch daring young men surfing, skimboarding, body surfing and boogie boarding on these incredibly powerful waves, which crash down with a vengeance.
